  • Dan Rosen: Does David Krejci injury crush the Bruins playoff hopes or does it force GM Peter Chiarelli to get creative to fill the hole? Krejci to the LTIR would create some cap space to work with. Going to be interesting to watch the Bruins now.
  • Fluto Shinzawa: Given the length that David Krejci is going to be out, the Bruins could put him on the LTIR to free up some salary for a trade.
  • Jess Isner of Bruins Blog: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli.

“There’s a number of trades I could have made,” he said. “But as a manager, you look to what’s for the betterment of the organization — short-term, medium-term and long-term — and you’ve got to weigh the balance. Probably every other manager could say that, too, but I’m not going to make a costly trade for the sake of making a trade.”

“We’re expected to perform — as a team, as a coaching staff, as a management staff — and that’s the reality of it,” he said. “So if we don’t succeed — if we don’t perform as the level that’s expected to us — then as has been reported, there will be changes.

“I’m going to always work hard and try and improve the team, and we’ve got some good pieces, so hopefully we’ll get better, and meet expectations.”

  • Craig Custance of ESPN: The Bruins could add Chris Stewart immediately if they wanted to pay the asking price that Sabres GM Tim Murray’s wants. They may have now emerged as the team mostly likely to make a blockbuster trade. They could use some help up front and on the blueline.
  • Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli is on the hot seat, and he can’t afford to make a bad trade. Haggerty notes “a rash organizational move to ax both Chiarelli and Julien after one miserable, dreary, uninspired season could push both GM and head coach to team up together somewhere else.” Imagine Chiarelli and Claude Julien ending up in the Toronto.
  • The Fourth Period: GM Chiarelli is still trying to find a scoring forward. He showed some interest in Evander Kane before he was dealt to the Sabres. Chiarelli and Julien could be on the hot seat if they miss the playoffs.  The New York Post reported owner Jeremy Jacobs almost fired the pair back in 2013 when they almost lost to the Maple Leafs in the first round. The Post claims that President Cam Neely would take over as GM by the Draft if they fire Chiarelli.
