- Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News: Trade talk is getting louder with regards to Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn. If Kimmo Timonen is to return on Saturday, they are going to have to move a defenseman as Timonen would give them nine. Defensemen who could be moved include Coburn, Nicklas Grossmann, Luke Schenn, Michael Del Zotto and Carlo Colaiacovo. Coburn on the possibility of being traded
“It’s just part of the business. I’ve kind of accepted that,” Coburn said yesterday of the possibility of getting moved. “It comes with the territory of being a professional. You kind of know that’s part of the job.”
Coburn as a limited no-trade clause where he names 10 or 12 teams in which he’d accept a trade too.
- Randy Miller of NJ.com: The Flyers will either do nothing or they’ll be sellers due to their cap issues. Jakub Voracek on if he’d be upset if GM Ron Hextall moved a couple veteran defensemen for draft picks (players like Coburn, Grossmann or Luke Schenn).
“No,” Voracek said. “It’s going to be tough for all GMs in the league now. We’ll let Hexy do his job. It’s a business. In hockey, people get traded. People come and go. It’s tough, but it is what it is. Wayne Gretzky got traded.”
