Thoughts from the media:
Brian Wilde: “Sekac was not liked by Therrien. Simple. Sekac has talent and this could come back to bite Habs. It’s a great trade for Sekac away from MT.”
Roman Jedlicka: “Jiri Sekac didnt get ice time he deserved in Montreal. I always liked this kid, his work ethic. Good trade for Anaheim”
Dennis Bernstein: “Sekac LW, assuming he gets a trial run with Getzlaf/Perry.”
Curtis Zupke: “Looks like I’m not the only one surprised the Ducks were so quick to let DSP go, but one of those kids was going to go at some point.”
Bob McKenzie: “It was pretty clear Jiri Sekac wasn’t able to win over head coach Michel Therrien. We may get a better idea of Sekac’s ability in ANA.”
Dan Wood: “#NHLDucks sought a skilled LW. Believe Jiri Sekac fills the bill.”
Elliott Teaford: “Ducks getting more skill and speed with deal for LW Jiri Sekac and Habs get more size and grit with RW Devante Smith-Pelly. Opening salvo?”
Richard Labbe: “Sekac trade comes as a bit of a surprise, considering #Habs had won bidding war over him this summer. But did not fit in Therrien’s system.”
