The Calgary Flames have traded forward Corban Knight to the Florida Panthers for forward Drew Shore.
The 24-year old Knight was drafted 135th overall in the 5th round of the 2009 draft by the Panthers.
The 23-year old Shore was drafted 44th overall in the 2nd round of the 2009 draft by the Panthers.
- Bob McKenzie: Both Knight and Shore will report to their respective AHL teams.
- Andrew DeWitt: Knight was originally drafted by the Panthers and was traded to the Flames for a 4th round pick.
- George Richards of the Miami Herald: Shore has been stuck in the AHL since last season. If he were play one more NHL game he’d become waiver eligible, so instead of possibly losing him for nothing, they made the deal.
“We tried to fit him into the mix here but we’ve been healthy and had a busy offseason signing Bolland and MacKenzie,” GM Dale Tallon said.
“We’re very deep the middle. It was frustrating on both ends that we couldn’t get him more action. This is an opportunity for him. I have nothing but good things to say about the kid. He’s very valuable, but we have a lot of depth.”
