The New Jersey Devils trade Marek Zidlicky to the Detroit Red Wings for a conditional 2016 3rd round pick. The pick would become a 2nd if they get to the Stanley Cup final. If they reach the Eastern Conference finals, the Devils get a 2015 5th round pick.
The Devils are retaining $1 million in salary.
The 38-year old Zidlicky was drafted 176th overall in the 6th round of the 2001 draft by the Rangers. The pending UFA carries a $3 million cap hit.
Gus Katsaros: “Zidlicky is an aging puck mover, fits nice in the Detroit model. Might want to limit overall time, but a solid pickup”
