The NHL has suspended San Jose Sharks forward Raffi Torres for 41 games for an illegal check to the head of Anaheim Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg.
Torres has been suspended, fined or warned nine times in his NHL career.

John Shannon: One would think that the NHLPA would file a grievance of the suspension length. It would first go to Bettman, then if it was upheld, it would go to a third party.
