Who Could be in on Detroit Red Wings Dylan Larkin? Who Makes Sense?

Dylan Larkin holds some power with where he ends up with this no-trade. Who would be interested? What kind of deal does Yzerman want?

It’s likely not the start to the offseason that the Detroit Red Wings had in mind

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – To Challenge of Not to Challenge? episode on what teams could be on Detroit Red Wings Dylan Larkin. Which teams make sense for the No. 1 center.

** NHLRumors.com transcription

“The most fascinating thing he’s going to do here is, is he going to try to trade him for pieces that will help them now, or is he going to do another kind of, I’ll do futures or younger players who might be ready to play, but they’re just younger and more inexperienced, and build this team now around Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond.

NHL Rumors: Activity Starting To Pick Up Around the League

It’s, I think, it’s possible that he, because some of these teams might say, look, we’re getting Dylan Larkin to win, and we can’t add him and then subtract.

So, at the very least Yzerman is going to be looking around and saying, what if we get good players who are younger and we have to delay our window again. So that’ll be an interesting choice for him.

I’ll say this: Larkin has a no-trade clause this year and next, so he has, so he has control. If you’re a rebuilding team, like a San Jose or a Chicago, I would be, I would be curious to see if he really wanted to do that.

Like San Jose. It’s got to be so tempting to look at (Macklin) Celebrini and say, ‘Wow, I’d love to play with that guy for a few years.’ But they’re still far away, right? Or farther away, is he really going to want to leave a team that’s been on the precipice of the playoffs for the last couple years and haven’t made it in for teams that are a little bit farther away. Although San Jose is probably, San Jose is the one team I kind of wonder about, would they look at differently?

But teams like Chicago, like even a team like New Jersey, which has been in the playoffs and won, does he think they’re close enough to winning? Because I know a lot of people suspect New Jersey would make a lot of sense.

I’m looking at Dallas, I’m looking at Tampa Bay. I don’t know that Florida could do this, but I think you always have to look at them.

NHL Rumors: Dylan Larkin and Darnell Nurse

But I think the number one team everybody’s looking at is Minnesota. This has the Wild written all over it. I don’t think Dallas is impossible. I don’t think Tampa is impossible. I don’t know that he’s going to come to Canada, but Minnesota is the one team everyone’s talking about.

…

But like there’s, there’s a deal there. It’s like (Danila) Yurov, (Charlie) Stramel, who knows what else. It makes too much sense. But you know, I mean, it’s up to Yzerman, and it’s up to Larkin.
