  • Mark Stepneski of Stars.NHL: Stars forward Rich Peverley is in stable condition in a Dallas hospital after collapsing on the bench last night.

“We successfully treated him for a cardiac event with standard therapy,” said Dr. Gil Salazar of UT Southwestern Emergency Medicine. “We provide oxygen for him. We started an IV. We did chest compressions on him and defibrillated him, provided some electricity to bring a rhythm back to his heart, and that was successful with one attempt, which is very reassuring.”

“As soon as we treated him he regained consciousness. He was alert and talking to us after the event and quickly got transported to the hospital. I was actually able to talk to him in the back of the ambulance; he was able to tell me where he was and wanted to get back into the game.”

Peverley has a history of heart issues. He underwent a procedure in September for an irregular heartbeat.

  • Montreal Canadiens: Canadiens Josh Gorges had surgery yesterday morning to repair his fractured hand. He’ll be out at least four weeks.
  • Mike Heika: Stars coach Lindy Ruff said that Kari Lehtonen has a concussion: “When he starts feeling well, he’ll start exercising again.”
  • Bill Roose: Red Wings Joakim Andersson has a broken medial malleolus after being hit by a Dominic Moore shot. Andersson wears shot-blockers, but it was still able to fracture part of his left ankle.
  • Harvey Fialkov: Panthers Erik Gudbranson has a knee injury and is waiting to be assessed.
  • Chris Ryndak of the Buffalo News: Tylers Myers injured his right leg Sunday night, but it’s looking like he’ll not miss any time and should be in the lineup tonight.
  • Adrian Dater: Avs P.A. Parenteau left last night’s game with a knee injury. He’ll end up missing four to six weeks a MCL injury.
  • Arthur Staple: Islanders Michael Grabner (upper-body) will be evaluated when they return to New York.
  • Mike Chambers of the Denver Post: Avs Paul Stastny could return on Wednesday from his back injury. He hurt on his first shift on Saturday.
  • Sam Carchidi: Flyers Ray Emery practiced yesterday, but he’s doubtful for tonight according to GM Paul Holmgren.
  • Joe Smith: Lightning’s Steven Stamkos wasn’t on the ice yesterday morning. He’ll take a day off here and there as he works his way back. Team was off Sunday as well.
  • Michael Smith: Hurricanes who didn’t practice yesterday: Eric Staal, Justin Faulk (upper-body) and John Michael-Liles (upper-body).
  • Randy Sportak: Flames Curtis Glencross practiced yesterday in a contact jersey.
  • Renaud Lavoie: Canadiens Carey Price skated yesterday morning.
  • Eric Stephens: Ducks Luca Sbisa (knee) and Mathieu Perreault (forearm) skated yesterday and hope to travel with the team on their road trip.
