- Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: “Barring a total collapse, don’t expect Stars to trade Brad Richards.” Heika guesses the Stars will hold onto Richards, and if they can’t re-sign him by the start of free agency, they could move him for a pick or prospect July 1st.
- Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune: While there hasn’t been any official word yet, Russo is hearing it could be the most severe type of shoulder separation for Marek Zidlicky.
- Aaron Portzline via twitter: Ethan Moreau suffered a rib injury that might keep him out for the remainder of the Blue Jackets road trip.
- Ben Kuzma via twitter: Kyle Turris suffered an upper-body injury in the first period last night.
- Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen: Senators coach Cory Clouston and GM Bryan Murray are in the final year of their contracts, and their future position with the club could be in limbo. There seems to be “disconnect” between Clouston and the team leaders, and he’s head individual meetings. Canadian World Junior coach Dave Cameron could be a candidate as the next Senators head coach, he did coach their farm team for 3 seasons.
- Iain MacIntyre of the Vancouver Sun: The question is still out there as to when Sami Salo will return to the Canucks, but Salo “admitted he is still not convinced he will play again. Ever.” Salo is skating and will likely be back in a month, but will he be able to compete at a high level.
“We’ve had discussions,” Salo said. “Both sides have to be really honest with each other. I’ve said all along I’m not going to risk the rest of my career, my life, with having a disability. I have to be really careful.
“The business is the business. But, like I said, I have to be at the level where I feel I need to be. For sure, they’re going to ask me where I’m at, and there’s no point in moving somebody if I’m not 100 per cent. There’s no point coming back and then finding out you’re not good enough to play. I’ve got to make sure I’m really at the top level when I come back.”

- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Chris Osgood is a UFA at the end of the season, and has wondered if this could be his last season.
- Andy Strickland of True Hockey: Petr Prucha cleared waivers. “Multiple teams” have inquired about him, the Blues not being one of them. Prucha has good speed and is only 28.
