Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks signed forward Andrew Cogliano to a three-year contract extension.

Pierre LeBrun: Cogliano will get $3.25 million each year with no signing bonus. He gets a full no-trade clause for the rest of this season and a six-team limited no-trade clause for the three years of the contract.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Craig Morgan: Defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson returned to the Coyotes lineup. Hjalmarsson has only been able to get into 17 games this season.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Nick Groke of the Colorado Avalanche: Goaltender Semyon Varlamov will miss the next two weeks with a groin injury according to coach Jared Bednar.

“He’s not ready,” Bednar said. “The goal is to get him back on the ice before the all-star break.”

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

Blue Jackets PR: The Blue Jackets have assigned center Zac Dalpe and defenseman Dean Kukan to the AHL.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mark Stepneski: Defenseman Marc Methot is expected to be out for a couple weeks.

Pens Inside Scoop: Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan on goaltender Matt Murray: “His status will be day-to-day at this point. Matt will get as much time as he needs. He will not play tomorrow and we will go from there.”

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said that defenseman Victor Hedman will be out for three to six weeks: “Of all the outcomes, possibilities of the injury, we’re somewhat relieved that it is a shorter time frame.”

Joe Smith: Yzerman added: “We are counting on our other 7 ‘D’ to pick up the slack. Guys were waiting for more opportunity and now they’re going to get it,” and he specifically mentioned Slater Koekkoek.

Joe Smith: Yzerman also said that backup goaltender Peter Budaj will be out for six to weeks from his December 29th injury. That likely means he’ll be ready to return mid-February.

On the Washington Capitals …
