Afternoon Hits: Gilbert, Lazar, Morin … Cuts by Penguins, Maple Leafs and Senators

  • Jonathan Willis: Tom Gilbert accepted the Panthers PTO offer.
  • Chris Johnston: The Senators sign Curtis Lazar to an entry level contract.
  • Sam Carchidi: The Flyers sign Samuel Morin to a three-year entry level deal worth $4.275 million.
  • Seth Rorabaugh: Sent to AHL by Penguins: Forwards Paul Thompson, Tom Kostopoulos, Brian Gibbons Dominik Uher, Defensemen Clark Seymour, Reid McNeill and Nick D’Agostino.
  • Toronto Maple Leafs: The Maple Leafs cut their training camp number by 14. They currently have 37 players left in camp (21 forwards, 13 defensemen and three goalies). Assigned to the AHL Marlies: Forwards Sam Carrick, Andrew Crescenzi, Jerry D’Amigo, Josh Leivo, Greg McKegg and Brad Ross, defencemen Petter Granberg, Dylan Yeo and Zachary Yuen, and goaltenders Christopher Gibson and Garret Sparks. Back to their junior clubs: Forwards Frederik Gauthier and Ryan Rupert, defenceman Kevin Raine.
  • Ken Warren: Senators send four back to junior: G Francois Brassard, G Chris Dreidger, F Vincent Dunn and D Ben Harpur.
