NBC Sports Boston: Defenseman Charlie McAvoy will be out for about two weeks after undergoing a procedure for an abnormal heart rhythm. The Bruins issued a statement.
“After the Nov. 26 game, Charlie told team physicians that he experienced heart palpitations during the game. Subsequently he underwent an evaluation, which diagnosed him with a supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). The type of SVT Charlie has is not considered to be dangerous to his health but can recur at any time and causes significant symptoms.”
On the Buffalo Sabres …
Buffalo Sabres: Defenseman Nathan Beaulieu left last night’s game early.

On the Ottawa Senators …
Craig Medaglia of the Ottawa Senators: Forward Mark Stone (lower-body) and defenseman Johnny Oduya missed last night’s game. Stone won’t be out long.
“It’s not long-term,” shared the coach this morning. “The minute he can play, he will. He’s certainly not one of those guys who bails out so he really couldn’t do it tonight but he tried.”
Coach Guy Boucher said that Oduya will be out “week-to-week.”
The Senators are already without forwards Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Nate Thompson.
TSN 1200: Coach Boucher said that there is a slim to no chance that Pageau or Thompson returns before the All-Star break.
Paul @Sens_Army_: Oduya is two games short of a $250,000 games played bonus.

Luke Fox: The Maple Leafs put defenseman Morgan Rielly on the IR and recalled defenseman Rinat Valiev.
Dave McCarthy: Coach Mike Babcock on Rielly’s status: “They’re all day to day but once they get in that chamber… Zaitsev’s been day to day for like 14 games or something now, hasn’t he?”
On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Forward Ondrej Palat will be out for six to eight weeks.
“It’s a huge loss for us on a complete non-hockey play that didn’t have to take place,” coach Jon Cooper said. “It’s tough to swallow, I’ll tell you that.”
