Drury ready for Friday … Rangers interested in B. Richards? Tavares out still … Ducks not interested in Souray … plus more

  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: Rangers center Chris Drury should be ready to go for Friday’s home opener against the Maple Leafs. Drury has been out since September 20th with a broken finger. Erik Christensen suffered a groin and hamstring injury last night, so a roster move may not necessary if Christensen is placed on IR. If he’s not placed on IR, one of either Todd White ($2.376 million) or Tim Kennedy ($550,000) could be sent to the AHL, as both cleared waivers last week. Brooks thinks the Rangers could be interested in Brad Richards at some point this season, and would be interested in signing him long-term. John Tortorella, “I don’t want to jump the gun, but Step reminds me of a young Brad Richards in Tampa,”
  • Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: If injured Philadelphia Flyers forward Ian Laperriere is forced to retire due to his eye injury, his $1.16 million would still count against the cap for the next 2 years since he signed his contract after he was 35. I’m sure the Flyers would see if they could leave him LTIR for both seasons, therefore not counting against the cap, see Mike Rathje.
  • The NY York Times: New York Islanders forward John Tavares sat out last night’s game, and will miss their next one because of a concussion. Test came back normal yesterday, and he’ll trying skating today and tomorrow.
  • Eric Stephens via twitter: The Ducks are not interested in Sheldon Souray if he was put on re-entry waivers.
  • Bryan Mullen of the Tennessean: The Nashville Predators have recalled goalie Mark Dekanich as a precaution if Pekka Rinne his not able to go due a ‘lower-body-injury’. Rinne hasn’t practiced the last 2 days, but feels better, and is day-to-day.
  • Mark Emmons of the San Jose Mercury News: Thomas Greiss was placed on waivers by the San Jose Sharks on Sunday. I’d be surprised if no one claimed him, he carries a $550,000 salary.
  • Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger: The New Jersey Devils have put P.L. Letourneau-Leblond on waivers, and will be sent to the AHL if he clears. They are also expected to sign Adam Mair to a contract. Mair has been with the team on a tryout.
  • Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Kirk Maltby is expected to decide today if he’ll retire or report the AHL. If he retires, he’ll likely stay with the organization as a scout.
  • Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Newly acquired Andres Lilja is waiting a new work visa before he’s allowed to suit up for the Anaheim Ducks. They hope the he’ll receive it this week.
