With the loss of Mattias Ohlund to Tampa Bay via free agency this off-season, the acquisition of some veteran blue liners should help the Vancouver Canucks chances when trying to re-sign all star goaltender Roberto Luongo to a contract extension. Luongo will be an UFA heading into next summer.
