The Atlanta Thrashers have signed free agent goaltender Chris Mason. The deal is worth $3.7 Million over 2 years with a $1.850 Million cap hit.
I’m surprised that Mason went so cheap but this appears to be a bad year to be an un-restricted free agent goaltender. It seems like teams are only willing to pay blue chip, franchise goaltenders and the list that qualify for that title is small and shrinking.
UPDATE: The Atlanta Thrashers have acquired Andrew Ladd from The Chicago Blackhawks for defencemen Ivan Vishnevsky and a second round pick.
