- Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun: So the big question now for Clarke MacArthur and the Maple Leafs is, what is he worth? This is a breakout year for MacArthur, but is he a 40 or 70 point guy? Burke,
“That’s why there’s been no stone throwing about the two sides about who’s being fair. We acknowledge the player has had an excellent year for us and he’s a good guy. We’re happy he’s here, but is that the real guy? Is that the player you are signing?”
If they don’t get a deal done, Burke is fine with going to arbitration.
“We did not offer Clarke to teams, we did get offers on him. We had an internal price that wasn’t met and we’re very happy that he’s still here.”
- Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: Penguins defenseman Paul Martin returned to practice yesterday and there is a chance he plays on Wednesday against the Leafs. Martin has missed the last 4 games. Chris Kunitz has been skating but not practicing with the team. RW Tyler Kennedy and G Brent Johnson also didn’t practice due to injuries. Sidney Crosby was in the dressing room yesterday but still no time line on him.
- Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Both Chris Pronger and Blair Betts practiced yesterday and could be ready to go on Thursday against the Leafs.
- Tim Sassone of the Daily Herald: The Blackhawks added Chris Campoli from the Ottawa Senators yesterday but also found out they have lost Jordan Hendry with a torn ACL in his left knee. Hendry will be out for the rest of the season. They were also looking to a center yesterday but will go with “Jake Dowell and Ryan Johnson for now behind Jonathan Toews and Dave Bolland.” The Senators will receive one of the three 2nd round picks the Blackhawks have, they’ll send over the worst of the three.
