- Daren Millard via twitter: Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk said on HC@noon that he’s spoken with Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson in the last 24 hours. Added that he’s sure 28 other GMs have too.
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: The Oilers are getting calls on Sam Gagner, but it would be a shock if they dealt him.
“I’ve said from the outset (even before his incredible splurge to tie Ryan Smyth for third in team scoring) that I believe in Sam. He’s played a lot of different roles for us over the last year and a half (centre or the wing) and I was so happy he had a couple of nights (eight points versus the Chicago Blackhawks and three the next game against the Detroit Red Wings), where you saw the potential come to reality. It was a lot of fun,” said Tambellini.
“I am not looking to sell anything that hurts our team and I hope Sam’s part of that (rebuild).”
GM Steve Tambellini wouldn’t say if there is any interest in Nikolai Khabibulin.

- Darren Dreger of TSN: Islanders P.A. Parenteau wants to shelve contract talks until after the season so he can just focus on helping the Isles make the playoffs. Parenteau has 12 goals and 39 assists so far this season, 2 points shy of his career high.
