On the Arizona Coyotes …
Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: The Arizona Coyotes and Arizona State University have start negotiations on building a 16,000 plus arena on the corner of McClintock Drive and Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe, Arizona.
“Today’s a very exciting day for the organization,” Coyotes president and CEO Anthony LeBlanc added. “To get to the point where we are putting out this joint announcement illustrates that we have done an awful lot of work, but the reality is there’s still a lot of work to be done.”
Preliminary plans are for a 16,000 plus arena with a 4,000 seat arena for Arizona State’s hockey program.
Their hope is that the project would be completed by the 2019-20 season.
On the Calgary Flames …
Calgary Flames: The Flames have terminated the contract of defenseman Nicklas Grossmann.
Wes Gilbertson: Grossmann didn’t report to the AHL after clearing waivers. He will likely sign with a team in Europe.
On the New York Islanders …
NY Islanders: The Islanders have put defenseman Dennis Seidenberg on the IR with an upper-body injury. He’ll be out indefinitely. They recalled Scott Mayfield on an emergency basis.
Arthur Staple: Defenseman Travis Hamonic was on the ice this morning. Coach Jack Capuano said that Hamonic is going to play.
Jon Lane: Hamonic was suppose to miss four to weeks as of November 6th. He’s missed three games and will return tonight.
