- Kevin Allen of the USA Today: Shane Doan’s agent, Terry Bross, said yesterday that 16 teams have inquired, and “four or five” teams have already submitted offers. Doan is traveling back to Western Canada and Bross hoped to get in contact with him either last night or this morning to discuss their options. Initially Monday’s deadline was reported to be extended to next Monday, but Bross said that may not be the case.
“There is no relevance to the July 16th date for us,” he said. “That’s off the table.”
- Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times: The Lightning are interested in Shane Doan, though it appears he isn’t interested in them.
“I’ve called and haven’t gotten a call back, so I assume there’s not an interest there,” general manager Steve Yzerman said. “That’s all I can say.”
Yzerman said it’s “not likely” that they will make any more moves this summer.
“You never know,” he said. “You continue to work your way and stay in touch with people around the league and see what’s going on, and if something fits be prepared to act. But for the most part I think we addressed a lot of needs. I want to keep an opportunity on our team for some of the younger guys that played so well for Norfolk to come in and have a chance to make the team. So, unless it’s a player I know is going to be better than one of those guys, we’re not going to fill a spot.”
- Lisa Dillman via twitter: The Kings are waiting on Doan just like everyone else. GM Lombardi said they’ve been interested since the start of free agency.
