Mike Morreale: New Jersey Devils GM Ray Shero said that they will likely decide this week whether to shut Taylor Hall down for the season or not.
Amanda Stein: Devils defenseman Will Butcher missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury and is day-to-day.
Islanders to get two back tonight
Laura Albanese of Newsday: New York Islanders forward Andrew Ladd and defenseman Thomas Hickey will be returning to the lineup tonight.
Ladd has been out since November 13th will play on the second line replacing Tom Kuhnhackl.
Hickey has missed the past 28 games with a suspected head injury will replace Scott Mayfield and is paired with Devon Toews.
“I talked to about that,” he said. “He may not be out tomorrow. It’s just more of a thing that do the same thing in terms of roles — penalty kill, late-game situations, that type of thing . . . I talked to him and said, ‘Hey, we’ve done it by committee all year.’ ”
Hart to be out longer than expected
John Boruk: Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart could be out longer than the initial 10 days they had expected.
Letang out day-to-day
Dan Kingerski: Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang will be evaluated daily, though coach Mike Sullivan wouldn’t say he’s “day-to-day” when asked if he was. Letang nor Brian Dumoulin will be traveling with the team to Columbus.
Josh Yohe: Letang’s neck injury is not expected to be a long-term issue.
