Islanders put three on the IR

Andrew Gross: The New York Islander put forward Casey Cizikas (lower-body) on the IR and he’ll be out for two to three weeks. Forward Andrew Ladd is on the IR and out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Forward Matt Martin is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and is on the IR.

Elliott out two weeks

Stephen Whyno: Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Brian Elliott is out two weeks with a lower-body injury.

Devils should know this morning is Hischier can go

Chris Ryan: New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier will see how he is feeling this morning to see if he can go today against the Red Wings.

Chara could be out four to six weeks … Bergeron ailing

Steve Conroy: Boston Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller is still out and they’re targeting a Wednesday return.

Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic: The Bruins are without injured defensemen Zdeno Chara (left knee), Charlie McAvoy (head), Brandon Carlo (upper body), Kevan Miller (right hand), John Moore (lower body), and Urho Vaakanainen (head).

Chara will be out for four to six weeks according to a source.

Patrice Bergeron left briefly in the second period after he crashed into the board, with his left shoulder taking the brunt of the collision. Bergeron was moved to the wing, didn’t play in overtime, and only saw 13 minutes of ice time.

“Right now, he was having a tough time finishing,” said Cassidy. “It leads me to believe he’d have a tough time playing . But he’s also a tough guy. So we’ll see how it is. He does have a few days between games. There’s that to look at. But at the end of the day, we have to find out the extent of the injury.”

Brassard could return today

Wes Crosby of NHL.com: Pittsburgh Penguins forward Derick Brassard could return to the Penguins lineup tonight against the Senators. He’s been day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Brassard has missed their past nine games, with the Penguins going 2-6-1 over that span.

Brassard took some line rushes yesterday and did some work with the second power play unit.

“I think the toughest part is to watch and feel you can’t really help out,” Brassard said. “We’ll see how I feel in the next couple days and hopefully, I can try to come and help the team win a hockey game.”
