Bill Hoppe of Buffalo Hockey Beat: Buffalo Sabres defenseman Brandon Montour is back practicing in a contact jersey and is listed as day-to-day. Coach Ralph Krueger on when Montour could return.
“But it’s still a lot different when you have to put it into action,” he said. “It’s day-to-day to see him get integrated here. We’ve got no timeline on the re-entry.”
Defenseman Marco Scandella will be out for two to three weeks with a lower-body injury.
Forward Jimmy Vesey is listed as week-to-week with an upper-body injury.
Columbus Blue Jackets: The Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Ryan Murray and forward Alexandre Texier on the IR.
Murray broke his hand on the weekend and will be out for three to four weeks.
Texier was also injured on Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers. He is expected to be out for two to four weeks with a knee injury.
New Jersey Devils: Defenseman Connor Carrick will be out for four to six weeks after having surgery on his broken right pinky finger. He blocked a shot at practice last Thursday.
Brian Compton: New York Islanders coach Barry Trotz said that forward Leo Komarov has started working out.
Dan Rosen: New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist missed practice yesterday due to an upper-body injury. He is listed as day-to-day.
Dan Rosen: New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad is listed as day-to-day. He is feeling better and hasn’t been ruled out for tonight’s game.
Lundqvist is expected to be the backup tonight.
Seth Rorabaugh: Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin is hopeful to return on Saturday.
Coach Mike Sullivan said that forward Alex Galchenyuk and defenseman Brian Dumoulin are game-time decisions tonight.
Kristen Shilton: Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock confirms that defenseman Travis Dermott will return to the lineup tonight.
Terry Koshan: Dermott after getting medical clearance to return: “It has been way too long.”
