Sabres injury updates

Sabres PR: Matt Hunwick is day-to-day with a neck injury.

Jake McCabe and Casey Nelson are week-to-week with upper-body injuries.

Marco Scandella is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Scott Wilson is out indefinitely with an ankle injury.

Staal out with a concussion

Michael Smith of NHL.com: Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said that forward Jordan Staal has a concussion.

He suffered the concussion in Wednesday’s game and wasn’t on the ice yesterday.

Staal will be re-evaluated when they get home.

Goaltender Curtis McElhinney left practice yesterday with a lower-body injury. Brind’Amour wasn’t sure of the severity of the injury.

Duchene and Ryan could be out long-term

Don Brennan: Ottawa Senators coach Guy Boucher said that they will know the extent of Matt Duchene and Bobby Ryan‘s injuries in the next few days. Boucher added that they “could be” out long-term.

Murray Pam: Senators defenseman Max Lajoie missed his third straight game.

Morin on the ice but still months away

Dave Isaac: Defenseman Sam Morin and goaltender Brian Elliott were on the ice before practice. Morin timetable to return is still February.

No update on Stralman … Vasilevskiy could get back on the ice soon

Bryan Burns: Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jon Cooper didn’t have an update on defenseman Anton Stralman. Stralman has been out for the past 13 games with an upper-body injury.

Cooper on Stralman: “Nothing yet, so we’re still playing the waiting game.”

Joe Smith: Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy hit the third week of his expected four to six-week recovery time for his fractured foot.

Vasilevskiy is traveling with the team and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he got back on the ice soon.
