On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Ryan Kennedy: Defenseman Nikita Zaitsev said that he might have come back a little early but he knew that he would be able to help the team.

On the Boston Bruins …

Caryn Switaj of NHL.com: Forward Patrice Bergeron said that he’s been dealing with a sports hernal all season and it might require surgery this offseason.

“We’re going to go through physicals today, but I’ve been dealing with a sports hernia all year,” said Bergeron. “With the schedule, it was definitely something that was nagging and it was there for most of the year, but having the breaks in the second half definitely helped a lot to make it feel a little better.”

David Krejci suffered a knee injury in Game 5 after coming back from an upper-body injury. Had they made it to round two, he would had started skating in the next few days.

Defenseman Torey Krug was getting close to returning from his knee injury.

“I was really close. I don’t know if the doctors would have let me, but I was close – if not Game 7, then I would have started Round 2 and it was close,” said Krug. “I was working pretty hard to give myself a chance to come back and play and help the team.”

Defenseman Brandon Carlo said he suffered a concussion in the final game of the regular season.

Joe Haggerty: Krug said it was a right MCL issue and it won’t require surgery.
