- Vicki Hall of the Calgary Herald: Flames GM Jay Feaster wanted to add some more grit and sandpaper this summer, but hasn’t been able to so far.
“As far as a trade goes, we had conversations,” Feaster said Sunday at training camp for Calgary’s No. 1 farm team, the Abbotsford Heat. “But nothing made any sense for us to pull the trigger.”
They weren’t able to do anything through free agency. Steve Begin signed a tryout contract. They may have to look in-house to fill the role, with candidates being Akim Aliu and Lance Bouma.
