- Matt Brown: Mikhail Grabovski said he’s thrilled to be joining the Capitals, official announcement today. Aaron Ward: Grabovski and the Capitals have agreed on a one-year deal. Steve Simmons: Capitals GM George McPhee said last night in a text, “Until we have two signatures, there is no deal to report.”
- Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: There is no update on Alex Pietrangelo contract talks with the Blues. Both sides have been in contact over the past several months.
“Nothing really to report to you concerning Alex’s contractual status,” Meehan wrote in an email to the Post-Dispatch Thursday afternoon. “Our discussions are ongoing with Doug.”
Pietrangelo is said to be looking for close to $7 million and the Blues are don’t want to go over $6 million. Blues GM Doug Armstrong said that a short-term or bridge contract is possible.
“It’s just finding out is it a maximum-term contract of eight years or do both sides feel it’s better to go short?” Armstrong said. “We’re going to work hand-in-hand with Alex because it’s not a win-lose. We’re hoping to find a win-win for both sides.”
- Will DePaoli: The Canadiens have signed Douglas Murray to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. He was making $2.5 million last season. Chris Johnston: Murray will get a $1 million base salary and a $500,000 signing bonus.
- Iain MacIntyre: The Canucks have re-signed Chris Tanev to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.
- Vancouver Canucks: The Canucks have re-signed Andrew Alberts. Mike Halford: He’ll make $600,000 this season, down from $1.225 million.
