Free Agent notes involving: Del Zotto, Ranger, Franson, Fehr, Palmieri and Foster
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Rangers and Michael Del Zotto have tentatively agreed on a contract. He is expected to be in camp today. Larry Brooks via twitter: Brooks was told that Del Zotto’s deal is for 2 years and around $2.55 million a season. Matt Gilroy has signed a 1 year deal, possibly at $650,000.
  • Elliotte Friedman of CBC: Marlies defenseman Paul Ranger is an NHL free agent, despite having a AHL deal with Toronto. His agent would not comment on the situation.

“Ranger has played very, very well, but I think the thing with Paul that everyone has to remember is that he’s been gone for such a long time,” Eakins told The National Post’s Michael Traikos.

“Everyone wants to make sure that from Paul’s side and our side that he’s fully ready to make the next step. He’s so early into this that there’s no timeline on a return for him.”

Ranger has 18 points in 29 games, with a +/- of +16. The Maple Leafs may want him to make the jump the NHL.

  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: Once the lockout ends, McKenzie expects the Maple Leafs to sign RFA Cody Franson to a 1 year deal for just over $1 million.
