Goaltender Rumors: Schneider, Luongo, DiPietro, Halak, Emery, Theodore and Clemmensen
  • Darren Dreger: Two sources have said that Cory Schneider is in play and a first round pick and prospect are part of the asking price. The Oilers could be part of the talks. This could just be a backup plan if they are unable to move Roberto Luongo. Checking out to see what their asset is worth.
  • Arthur Staple: The Islanders are interested in a Roberto Luongo – Rick DiPietro swap, but only that deal though, so the Canucks will look elsewhere for an asset in return. B.D. Gallof: The Islanders view immediate cap relief as an asset for the Canucks, who don’t not. The Canucks have limited options with Luongo. Josh Rimer: Rimer is hearing the Canucks are thinking about using a compliance buyout on Luongo since they are having a hard time trading him. Not saying they will do it, but it’s being discussed and it’s an option.
  • Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: Sources saying the Flyers have talked with the Blues about the availability of Jaroslav Halak. Halak has one year left with a $3.75 million cap hit.

“The Flyers have been told it’s going to take a very good player, but it won’t take one of their top guys, which Philadelphia was worried about,” the source said. “He could be their No. 1.”

Tim Thomas is said to be intrigued by the Flyers. Ray Emery, Jose Theodore and Roberto Luongo (if bought out) could be options.

  • Jeremy Rutherford of St. Louis Post Dispatch: The Blues could look to move a goalie this weekend.

“It seems like a lot of teams are looking to change out their mix,” Armstrong said. “So their could be five or six available. But I think everyone is the same way: good goalies are hard to find and if you have them, you don’t give them away.”

Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott both have a year left on their deals, $3.75 million for Halak and $1.9 million for Elliott.

  • Renaud Lavoie: The Panthers are shopping Scott Clemmensen who has one year left at a $1.2 million salary cap hit.
