UPDATE: Bruce Garrioch via twitter: The Senators have called a media availability for 11 AM this morning for Bryan Murray to update Jason Spezza’s injury status.
- Sarah McLellan via twitter: Coyotes Mike Smith is day-to-day and not able to come off the IR until Friday. Matthew Lombardi is out for at least a month. Dave Vest via twitter: Coyotes coach Dave Tippett on Mike Smith: “I’d be surprised if he’s not ready by the weekend.” Sarah McLellan via twitter: Tippet added that everyone other than Smith is a “a bit of a mystery.” Smith could play one game this weekend, maybe both.

- Tom Gulitti via twitter: The Devils putting Cam Janssen on waivers yesterday gives them an extra roster spot.

- Helene Elliott of the LA Times: Kings defenseman Willie Mitchell was medically cleared last week, and he had an MRI on Monday to gauge the progress.

“Wearing a visor might be a good thing,” coach Mike Babcock said. “I hate to see that happen to a guy — it’d change your life forever. That’s part of the game, but a visor would fix that.”
