- Helene St. James: Red Wings Jakub Kindl left last night’s game with a hip flexor. GM Ken Holland said “nothing serious, just precaution.”
- Ansar Khan: Red Wings Patrick Eaves hurt his knee in a collision. Extent of injury won’t be known for a day or two.
- Wes Gilbertson: Flames defenseman Patrick Sieloff will not need surgery on his broken cheek-bone. He’s been cleared but will wear a face shield for six to eight weeks.
- David Alter: Maple Leafs Colton Orr left the ice before practice started yesterday.
- Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs Nazem Kadri left the game in the third. X-rays came back negative on his hand. He was unable to grip his stick comfortably.
- Terry Koshan: Maple Leafs Jonathan Bernier came out after the first period of last night’s game with a minor injury. He wouldn’t say what the injury was, but it originally happened yesterday morning. The plan was to play the whole game. Said the injury is “nothing concerning.”
- Tom Gulitti: Devils Ryane Clowe suffered a “charley horse type injury” yesterday.
- Arthur Staple: Islanders Cal Clutterbuck saw a doctor yesterday and will likely be out four to six weeks.
- Shawn Mitchell: Blue Jackets defenseman Nikita Nikitin has no fracture in his foot after blocking a shot. Will likely miss a few days.
- Eric Stephens: Ducks defenseman Luca Sbisa will be off the ice for two weeks with an ankle sprain. He’s questionable for the season opener.
- Scott Powers of ESPN: Blackhawks Marian Hossa will miss the next four preseason games with an upper-body injury.
“He aggravated an injury there,” Quenneville said after Thursday’s morning skate. “We’re going to keep him off. I wouldn’t expect him in the next four games here in the next five nights. We’ll see how he progresses after that.”
