Injury Notes: Rinne, Neal, Lundqvist, Fasth, Stempniak, Slater, Nieto, Jenner and MacArthur

  • Pat Iverson of SB Nation: Predators Pekka Rinne told the Finnish magazine “Urheilulehti,” that his hip infection is “very dangerous” and could lead to long-term problems.
  • Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: Penguins James Neal is not expected to practice this week. It’s not known if Beau Bennett will be able to return to practice this week.
  • Steve Zipay: Henrik Lundqvist is ready to return to the Rangers net.
  • Eric Stephens: Ducks Viktor Fasth didn’t skate yesterday. Being more cautious with his lower-body injury after he tested it out in Toronto and Montreal.
  • Wes Gilbertson: Flames Lee Stempniak is wearing a protective boot on his right foot.
  • Ken Wiebe: The Jets activate Chris Thorburn from the IR and put Jim Slater on the IR.
  • Eric Stephens: Ducks Saku Koivu didn’t return to the game after taking a hit from Brandon Dubinsky.
  • David Pollak: Shark Matt Nieto hurt his hand blocking a shot, but it’s not considered serious.
  • Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch: Blue Jackets Boone Jennermissed last night’s game due to a leg injury.

    “Boone is getting re-evaluated, but it might be an injury that keeps him out a little bit,” coach Todd Richards said. “Just one of those fluke things. He went down with a leg injury. He’s going to miss some time.”

  • Bruce Garrioch: Senators Clarke MacArthurwas held out of yesterday’s game for precautionary reasons.

    “He has a minor injury that we want to make sure doesn’t grow into something bigger,” said MacLean. “I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but he felt some aggravation when he didn’t practice and we want to give it a chance to get healed up, so it’s not something long lasting or chronic.”
