- Ian Mendes: Neither of Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson skated yesterday. A scheduled day off for Karlsson and Spezza worked out off-ice.
- Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Injured Penguins Paul Martin, Sidney Crosby and James Neal all skated before practice yesterday. Neal has been symptom free since Monday.
- Mark Masters: Capitals coach Adam Oates on Brooks Laich: “We want him to be pain free before he goes on the ice again so he’s working as hard as he can to become pain free.” At the moment, they are not considering surgery for Laich’s groin. There is no timetable for his return.
- Ken Wiebe: Jets coach Claude Noel said that Nik Antropov (lower-body) skated for the first time since suffering his injury. He’s day-to-day and could return this week.
- Jeremy Rutherford: Blues TJ Oshie has a stress fracture and had surgery yesterday. Timetable is unknown. Andy Strickland: Was told that a screw may have been needed to fix Oshie’s ankle. Jeremy Rutherford: Oshie is week-to-week.
- Aaron Portzline: Blue Jackets center Artem Anisimov (concussion) is traveling with the team. He won’t play on Wednesday or Thursday, but hasn’t been ruled out for any games beyond that.
- B.D. Gallof: Islanders Casey Cizikas left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.
- Flyers.NHL.com: Flyers Bruno Gervais had surgery last Thursday to repair a torn stomach muscle.
- Joe Haggerty: Bruins Brad Marchand has been “cleared for contact.” Patrice Bergeron’s return tonight is “highly probable.”
