  • Josh Cooper: Predators Viktor Stalberg will be out three to four weeks with a AC sprain in his right shoulder.
  • Elliotte Friendman: Sabres Corey Tropp is out five to six weeks with a broken jaw from Sunday’s fight with Jamie Devane. Mike Harrington: Tropp passed concussion testing.
  • Rob Longley: The Maple Leafs didn’t practice yesterday, but center Dave Bolland (leg) skated by himself. Mark Masters: Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said that he expects Bolland to play on either Friday or Saturday.
  • Ansar Khan: Red Wings Jonathan Ericsson is out with a thigh contusion. Jakub Kindl (hip flexor) and Daniel Alfredsson (groin) are still out. Ericsson said that his injury wasn’t serious and is expected to played Friday.
  • Rich Chere: Jaromir Jagr decided that he’d skate yesterday.
  • Sarah Baicker: Flyers Jakub Voracek is status quo with regards to his upper-body injury.
  • Jon Rosen: Kings Dustin Brown took part in practice yesterday. Skated as an extra with the Clifford-Stoll-Lewis-Regehr-Doughty unit.
  • David Pollak: No update yesterday on Sharks Raffi Torres‘ ACL injury. Could find out today if surgery is required.
  • Mark Lazerus: Blackhawks second line center, Michal Handzus said he almost ready and should be ready for the opener.
  • Harvey Fialkov of the Sun-Sentinel: Panthers Kris Versteeg will play tonight, ending six-months recovery from major ACL surgery.
  • Mike Vogl: Predators Patric Hornqvist left last nights game with a lower-body injury.
  • Mike Harrington: Sabres coach Ron Rolston said that Joel Armia has a hand issue.
  • Ansar Khan: Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader received stitches to his left hand after being in a fight.
  • Aaron Portzline: Recovery is slow for Blue Jackets Nathan Horton. Shoulder surgery was bigger than first expected. His shoulder had been dislocated so many times that the bone around the socket had been chipped/worn away. Had bone taken from the front of shoulder and fused with the glenoid cavity to hopefully make the joint more stable.
