  • The Fourth Period: Scott Gomez is already getting some interest for when he’s bought out and becomes a free agent. It’s possible that he could be picked up before the start of the season. All interest is coming from the Western Conference, with as many as 5 teams interested. Dennis Bernstein via twitter: Can add Canucks to the list of teams interested in Gomez. Eric Macramalla via twitter: “Hello, my name is Scott Gomez. I’m in a position to collect 4 paychecks in 2 seasons. Thank you Donald Fehr.”
  • Dave Stubbs via twitter: P.K. Subban’s agent, Don Meehan, said in a text message that there is “no news to report today. We are not close to an agreement.” comment from yesterday
  • Dennis Bernstein via twitter: League source saying there is little chance that Wade Redden is a short term replacement for Kings Willie Mitchell.
  • Matias Strozyk via twitter: Lubomir Visnovsky: “I still can’t fly, need to stay for at least 2 wks. My son has health issues. Nothing serious, but recovery will take a while. I’ve asked permission to play for Slovan for the next 2 weeks. If I don’t get it, I’ll just practice in Bratislava.” – pluska.sk.
  • Darren Dreger via twitter: Sean O’Donnell sent a text to Dreger saying he’s retiring after 17 seasons and 1,200 games.
  • Katie Carrera of the Washington Post: Brooks Laich is likely to miss the Capitals home opener on Saturday due to a groin injury. Wojtek Wolski lined up in Laich’s spot on the second line.
