Winger Ales Kotalik has signed a 3 year deal with the New York Rangers for $9 million. Kotalik put up 45 points in 75 games last season with the Sabres and Oilers. His best season was back in 2005-06 with the Sabres where he registered 62 points in 82 games. Since then he’s recorded 38, 43, 43, and 45 points. I don’t think he’s known for his defencive prowless, so his $3 million per season for his offensive side seems a bit much in my opinion. Is he another Russian with talent, but can’t put it together in the NHL? Didn’t they just let one go?
Another D-man is on his way out of Florida, as Nick Boynton is headed to Anaheim on a 1 year contract for $1.5 million. A good pick up for the Ducks at a good rate. Though he doesn’t fill the hole left by Pronger and Beauchemin, he should fit in nicely their.
