On the Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks, and Dallas Stars …
- Allan Muir of SI: Loui Eriksson would be a perfect fit in Chicago. The Bruins are looking for a young, NHL ready defenseman, but that is something the Blackhawks don’t really have. The Blackhawks do have a first round pick and Marko Dano that might interest the Bruins.
Andrew Ladd could be another option, and the Jets like the Bruins are looking for a young defenseman. The Ducks have plenty of defensemen and are looking for help on the wing. The Ducks may be a better fit for Ladd. The Panthers would also like to add a big winger.
Mikkel Boedker and Kris Versteeg could be cheaper options for the Blackhawks.
There has been some talk of James van Riemsdyk and the Blackhawks, but it’s hard to see how the Blackhawks could fit in his $4.25 million cap hit for the next two years. Muir wonders if the Bruins would be interested in JVR to fill in for the soon to be traded Loui Eriksson. JVR would cost a high draft pick, a prospect and a young roster player.
If the Devils fall out of the playoff race, they could trade David Schlemko to a contender.
The Sharks are thought to be looking for a backup goalie. The Maple Leafs have James Reimer and Jonathan Bernier on the trade block and would be happy to get draft picks and/or prospects. The Sharks may give Aaron Dell a shot first.
The Stars would love to add a defenseman. Kris Russell and Roman Polak could be good fits. The Stars have some young defenseman they could offer – Patrik Nemeth and Jamie Oleksiak.
Dale Weise could also interest the Stars.
