Late afternoon notes on Doughty, Bernier, Nugent-Hopkins, Hemsky, Legace, Galchenyuk, Devils, and Canucks
  • Helene Elliott via twitter: LA Kings defenseman Drew Doughty: “in my mind i feel like i could play tomorrow but i probably shouldn’t.” He won’t play tomorrow, but probably back by the weekend.
  • Curtis Zupke via twitter: Jonathan Bernier will start tomorrow for the Kings. Mayors Manor.com: Kings coach Terry Murray: “It’s a decision I made a couple of days ago. I let Bernie know at the Saturday skate because I wanted to get him prepared and I knew Sunday was going to be a day off. I wanted him to have an opportunity to get himself ready and today he got a good workout in. We have a lot of games coming up and right now the schedule starts getting pretty busy. We have three Conference games right after New Jersey. So, it’s an opportunity to get him going.” Dennis Bernstein via twitter: The Kings aren’t showcasing Bernier by starting him versus New Jersey, but teams are asking about him.
  • Dan Tencer via twitter: Oilers coach Tom Renny said that there hasn’t been decision made on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, but everything has been “favourable” with his play so far.
  • The Tinfoil Tuque via twitter: Pierre LeBrun told TSN Radio that he’s spoken with someone within the Canucks organization who said they are done dealing for a while.
  • Aaron Portzline via twitter: The Blue Jackets are not considering signing goalie Manny Legace to a 2-way deal just yet. He’s on a PTO in the AHL.
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: 2012 draft prospect Alex Galchenyuk will undergo surgery for a torn ACL and could be done for the year.
