Lucic next for Bruins? No talks for Clarkson and Zajac … Bieber gets amateur tryout offer … Stamkos, Lecavalier considering options

  • Dan Rosen via twitter: Penguins captain Sidney Crosby said he’s feeling great, and Rangers winger Marian Gaborik said his rehab from shoulder surgery is on schedule.
  • James Murphy of ESPN Boston: The Bruins have recently locked up Brad Marchand and Tyler Seguin,

“We’re trying to lock up our younger players and in the context of a new CBA I am taking the approach that — and I believe it will prevail in the end — I’m taking the approach that if we have to shuffle our roster or delete from our roster to get to a level of salary, then it will be hard for us to do from the perspective of trading players.

“But I’d rather have the player locked up and I’d rather have him committed in what I think is a responsible and working framework in light of where the CBA will go. Then I’d rather try and deal with it then and with players that we know. That’s the important thing. I’ve got to do my business as usual and we’ve got some good young players that we’re trying to keep in the mix for a while.”

Don’t be surprised if the Bruins lock up Milan Lucic to a contract extension before Saturday. Lucic would a RFA after this season.

  • Todd Cordell via twitter: According to Tom Gulitti, the Devils haven’t talked with David Clarkson or Travis Zajac about contract extensions.
  • Eric Francis via twitter: Calgary Flames players that are still in town and not going to the NHLPA meeting will now take part in the teams charity golf tournament.
  • Ottawa Sun: The Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL have offered Justin Bieber an amateur tryout. “Yes, we would play him if he was up for it,” Condors coach Matt O’Dette told NHL.com. “I have seen video on him and he does have some hockey skills.”
  • Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune: Steven Stamkos is looking at his options,

“I’ve made a call to my agent and that’s something we’ve talked about, and we have some options,” Stamkos said Tuesday following informal on-ice workouts at the Ice Sports Forum. “We’ll see what happens, but I’m sure every player around the league has thought about it, talked to other players about it, talked to their agents and families.

“I know that we are thinking about it, it’s on our minds but we’ll wait to see what happens.”

Vincent Lecalavalier isn’t sure what he wants to do,

“I haven’t really decided what I wanted to do, I was going to decide if maybe I want to stay in Montreal for a bit or maybe go play somewhere else. … I’m not sure yet,” Lecavalier said. Playing in Europe “is an option, but I’m still kind of deciding, it depends on what comes up.’
