Chris Nichols of SportsNet: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Rob Rossi said on the Fan 590 that Kris Letang’s preferred destination if he doesn’t re-sign with the Penguins is the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also added that he’s not saying the Leafs have spoken with the Penguins and doesn’t mean a trade will happen. Sources say that if the Penguins were going to trade him they would want an NHL player, at least one top prospect and a potential first round pick.
Bob McKenzie: Penguins Kris Letang’s agent, Kent Hughes on reports that the Maple Leafs are his preferred destination: “We haven’t discussed the Toronto Maple Leafs. Period. Our focus has been on trying to conclude a deal with Pittsburgh.”
Renaud Lavoie: If the Penguins decide he has to be traded, he does NOT have a preferred destination.
