- William DePaoli: You can’t rule out John Hynes as the Penguins new head coach. He has a lot of support in the front office, some who may have as much power as new GM Jim Rutherford.
- Sarah McLellan: Coyotes GM Don Maloney said that their assistant GM search is “progressing” but nothing is imminent. Their budget should be set by the end of the week.
- David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News: Sharks Marc-Edouard Vlasic head is better after taking a forearm from Jarret Stoll, but he injured his knee on the play as well.
“It’s a question of time – it’s the exact same injury I had two years ago a the world championships and it takes six to eight weeks to heal,” Vlasic said. “If I take care of it now, I should be 100 percent come training camp.”
He sprained his MCL in 2012.

“Last week, Logan underwent successful surgery to repair a hand injury suffered in a fight in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against Mike Richards. The procedure went as expected and Logan will be ready for the start of training camp.”
