Morning Rumors I: Hemsky, Panthers, Sabres, Oilers, Halak, Stastny and Stuart
  • Bob Stauffer: The Rangers, Senators and Penguins make sense for Ales Hemsky.
  • Stephen Whyno: Panthers GM Dale Tallon sat down with Tim Thomas after the Roberto Luongo deal went down so quickly.
  • Hope Smoke: Bob McKenzie: “I can see up to five Sabres being moved tomorrow”
  • Dan Tencer: Oilers GM Craig MacTavish said they’ve been proposing some of  ‘hockey trades’, but doesn’t think they will happen at the deadline.
  • Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: The Sabres were looking for a prospect and/or a draft pick from the Wild for Jaroslav Halak. Niklas Backstrom is likely being shut down for the rest of the season due to his recurring abdominal injury.
  • Chris Stevenson: If Penguins Tomas Vokoun is able to return from his blood clot, more likely destinations for Jaroslav Halak are the Capitals or the Red Wings.
  • David Pagnotta: Quiet regarding Halak. They may have priced themselves out of a good return. Options may be limited now. Capitals?
  • Adrian Dater: Avs GM wouldn’t characterize talks with Paul Stastny’s agent.
  • Ken Wiebe: Jets Mark Stuart’s agent, Matt Keator, in an email: “Had some good discussions. Hopefully working towards a deal. We’ll see how things go.”
