  • Scott Burnside of ESPN: Lou Lamoriello is going to have to shake things up after the Devils terrible start.

“I take full responsibility,” Lamoriello told ESPN.com. “I put those people on the ice. Certainly we’re not happy with where we stand. The good news is that we have time to correct this.”

Lou won’t make changes for the sake of making changes.

“I have no issue with the coaching staff. You don’t know how close you are. That’s why you have to be careful,” he said, citing the fine line between wins and losses. “I think we’re close to that line.”

  • Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News: Buffalo Sabres backup goalie Patrick Lalime possibly has appendicitis. Ryan Miller will backup Jhonas Enroth.
  • JP Hoornstra of the LA Times: Brad Richardson will take Alexei Ponikarovsky’s spot on the 3rd line. Rob Scuderi will fill in for Willie Mitchell alongside Drew Doughty. Jake Muzzin was recalled yesterday. Kyle Clifford will make his 10th appearance on Thursday, which means he’ll likely remain with the club. Coach Murray and GM Lombardi will talk today about Clifford and Brayden Schenn. Schenn has played 8 games and has been scratched lately.
  • Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: The Colorado Avalanche now have 4 players out with a concussion after Kyle Quincey’s was announced. He joins Peter Mueller, Adam Foote and Kyle Cuminskey. Foote skated yesterday and is the closest to returning.
  • Joe Smith of the St. Petersburg Times: Simon Gagne had a nerve conduction test yesterday (results not released yet) to possibly help determine what is wrong with his neck. An MRI showed some fluid in the back of his neck but that is not believed to be the root of the problem. Steve Downie (back) said he’s good to go, coach Boucher “He’s nuts, in a good way.”
  • Grant Robertson of the Globe and Mail: One day Zdeno Chara may not be the tallest NHLer. 18 year old Sean Sanford, playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, is 6-9 1/4, a quarter inch taller than Chara, and he’s still growing.
