On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The Pittsburgh Penguins and defenseman Brian Dumoulin agreed to six-year deal with a salary cap hit of $4.1 million.

The sides avoided salary arbitration where the Penguins had offered $1.95 million and Dumoulin asking for $4.35 million.

“There was always ongoing dialogue,” Gross said. “We had been speaking quite a bit. We were never that far apart.”

The Penguins now have four defensemen who make over $4 million a season.

On the Nashville Predators …

Adam Vingan of The Tennssean: The Nashville Predators have re-signed Austin Watson to a three-year deal for $3.3 million – a $1.1 million cap hit.

He’ll get $1 million next year, $1.1 million in 2018-19 and $1.2 million in 2019-20.

The Predators have $13.4 million in salary cap space, with Ryan Johansen as their last remaining RFA. He’ll get close to half of their remaining cap space on a long-term deal.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Ottawa Senators: The Senators sign defenseman Johnny Oduya for one-year with a $1 million base salary and up to five $250,000 performance level bonuses.

John Shannon: Oduya’s bonuses are for games played, ice-time and playoffs.

Steve Lloyd: “I like the Oduya signing. Low risk and commitment. Don’t have to force feed a young guy if he’s not ready at the end of camp.”

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Winnipeg Jets: The Winnipeg Jets re-signed goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to a one-year deal at $2.25 million.
