Bruins may get some good news on Johansson
Joe Haggerty: Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said that forward Marcus Johansson went to the hospital to get checked out. The news may somewhat be encouraging and it may have looked worse than what the outcome is.
Conor Ryan: Cassidy said they will have a better idea on his status today.
Ferland leaves with an upper-body injury
Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes forward Micheal Ferland left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.
Green’s virus is back
Dana Wakiji: Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said that Mike Green will be out for seven to 10 days. The virus that he had earlier this season has been reactivated.
Lehner leaves early
Brian Compton: New York Islanders goaltender Robin Lehner wasn’t able to finish the game last night. Coach Barry Trotz didn’t add much after the game: “We’ll see where he is in the morning.”
Voracek out tonight
Dave Isaac: Philadelphia Flyers Jakub Voracek will miss tonight’s game. Nolan Patrick didn’t skate yesterday but is a possibility for tonight. Goaltender Carter Hart could take part in their morning skate but won’t play.
Updating injured Penguins
Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Mike Sullivan updating their injuries before yesterday’s game: “Dumoulin will be a game-time decision tonight. Letang obviously skated with the team in a non-contact jersey. He will not play tonight. Maatta, Ruhwedel, and Rust are status quo.”
Pittsburgh Penguins: Kris Letang on if he has any regrets on getting into the scrum after Brian Dumoulin‘s injury (he was injured on the play): “One of your teammates gets hit. I think it’s illegal… Obviously I’m jumping in. It’s the right thing to do. If I block a shot and break my leg, are you going to tell me to not block a shot?”
Kadri to be re-evaluated today
Mark Masters: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri‘s return isn’t imminent but he did practice in a regular jersey.
Terry Koshan: Kadri after practice: “I feel good. It’s day by day. Progression has been great. Hate sitting on the sidelines, but it’s part of the protocol and I understand it’s a process.” On Dunn hit that gave him concussion: “I remember exactly what happened. It was a clean body check, a good hit.”
Terry Koshan: Kadri continued: “I have been feeling pretty good, so we’re going to re-evaluate tomorrow morning and make a decision.”
