Getzlaf making progress and Gibson could return

Anaheim Ducks: Forward Ryan Getzlaf is making progress with his upper-body injury.

Goaltender John Gibson could return from his head/neck/back injury.

Faulk and de Haan injured

Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes defensemen Justin Faulk and Calvin de Haan are both day-to-day with upper-body injuries.

Forward Micheal Ferland has an upper-body injury but is expected to continue playing.

Caggiula has a concussion

Chicago Blackhawks: Forward Drake Caggiula left last night’s game with a concussion.

Wilson and Cole practicing

Ryan S. Clarke: Colorado Avalanche forward Colin Wilson practiced in a regular jersey and defenseman Ian Cole practiced in a no-contact jersey.

Cogliano doesn’t have a concussion

Sean Shapiro: Andrew Cogliano‘s injury is not a concussion, but is an upper-body injury sustained from a Ryan Reaves hit.

Sean Shapiro: Last word on Dallas Stars forward Tyler Pitlick from GM Jim Nill was that they are hoping he’d be able to return the last week of the regular season.

Mueller stretched off … other Devils injury updates

New Jersey Devils: Defenseman Mirco Mueller has full feeling and movement in all of his extremities. He was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

New Jersey Devils: The Devils have activated Sami Vatanen off the IR.

Chris Ryan: Forward Miles Wood will be out about four weeks with a fractured ankle.

Forward Kyle Palmieri is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Forward Jesper Bratt is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Forward Pavel Zacha is skating but hasn’t taken contact yet.

Forward John Quenneville is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Abbey Mastracco: Coach John Hynes said that it was Damon Severson‘s shot that broke Wood’s ankle.

Rust and Ruhwedel out long-term

Wes Crosby: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said that Bryan Rust is out long-term with a lower-body injury.

Chad Ruhwedel is out long-term with an upper-body injury.

Both Kris Letang and Brian Dumoulin are progressing but are not skating yet.

Perron and Schenn could return tomorrow

Jim Thomas: St. Louis Blues coach Craig Berube said that David Perron and Brayden Schenn could return to the lineup on Friday.

Dermott and Gardiner out week-to-week

Chris Johnston: Toronto Maple Leafs defensemen Travis Dermott and Jake Gardiner are out “week-to-week.”
