Dean Brown: GM Pierre Dorion said that forward Bobby Ryan had an x-ray during Game 6 but wouldn’t say what area was looked at. Results were negative.
Dean Brown: GM Dorion said that they expect forward Tom Pyatt (upper-body) and possibly defenseman Mark Borowiecki (lower-body) to be ready for Game 1 on Thursday.
Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Defenseman Erik Karlsson revealed on Sunday that he’s been playing with two hairline fractures in his foot from a shot he blocked back on March 28th. It caught GM Dorion a bit off guard that Karlsson said he wasn’t completely healthy.
“Was I surprised? A bit,” Dorion said. “What do you say? I’ll probably get in trouble for saying this but, you believe in whatever you believe in, and they always say God rested on the seventh day, I think on the eighth day he created Erik Karlsson.”
Karlsson has been playing with a lot of pain and missed a two games at the end of the season.
“The injury has healed over time. He’s not 100%. He probably won’t be 100% until next September but the ability he has to play through pain and to be as dominant as he has been and not be 100% says a lot about him. Guy did say he was 150% which didn’t quite add up but anyways …”

Bill West: Goaltender Matt Murray is still not skating.
Wes Crosby: Forward Chris Kunitz said that he plans on being ready for Game 1 on Thursday.
Wes Crosby: Coach Mike Sullivan said that forward Carl Hagelin has skated on his own the past two days.
Jason Mackey: Sullivan said that they are “hopeful” that they will get Hagelin back at some point this series.

Aivis Kalnins: The Russian Hockey Federation is saying that defenseman Nikita Zaitsev is not taking part in the World Championships because of a concussion. The Russian Hockey Federation later changed the release to the saying the Toronto Maple Leafs won’t release Zaitsev for the World Championships.
