On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

  • Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Evgeni Malkin will be out for six to eight weeks due to an undisclosed injury. He collided with Blue Jackets Dalton Prout and appear to injury his left shoulder/arm/wrist.
  • Josh Yohe: Good news that Malkin doesn’t require surgery.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

  • Stu Cowan: The Canadiens said that Lars Eller had an upper-body injury, then a lower-body injury, then mid-body and now he has the flu.
  • Eric Engels: The Canadiens have an injured list that totals $37.95 million (Price, Petry, Gilbert, Subban, Beaulieu, Gallagher, Eller, Carr, Matteau, Desharnais, Flynn).
  • Stu Cowan: Stefan Matteau missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

  • Ansar Khan: Niklas Kronwall said he didn’t think his injury was anything major.
  • Damien Cox: Kronwall had an MRI yesterday and it’s believed to be a knee sprain. They hope he’ll be back before the end of the year.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

  • Dave Isaac: Jakub Voracek saw a doctor yesterday. He’ll try to skate this morning.
  • Philadelphia Flyers: Defenseman Andrew MacDonald is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
  • Frank Seravalli: Michal Neuvirth is out with a stomach virus.

On the New York Rangers …

  • Andrew Gross: Rick Nash said that he’s feeling good, but it’s going to take some time to get his timing back.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

  • Sarah McLellan: Mike Smith returned last night after being out since mid-December after having surgery on a core muscle.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

  • Steve Ewen: Chris Tanev took part in their morning skate yesterday, with coach Willie Desjardins saying it’s a “first step” but added that “he’ll be awhile yet.”

On the Florida Panthers …

  • Jameson Olive: Teddy Purcell missed last night’s game with a groin injury. He will join the team on their upcoming road trip.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

  • Jack Michaels: Defenseman Adam Pardy is out week-to-week.
