Rittich dealing with an issue for months

Pat Steinberg: Calgary Flames goaltender David Rittich said he’d been playing through an undisclosed issue since January. He is going to rest instead of playing for the Czech Republic at the World Championships.

Svechnikov and Ferland not ready yet

Chip Alexander: Carolina Hurricanes forwards Andrei Svechnikov and Micheal Ferland weren’t able to go in Game 6 last night.

Girard still in a no-contact

Mike Chambers: Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard was still in a no-contact jersey at practice yesterday. His status for round two isn’t known yet.

Mayfield back at practice

Andrew Gross: New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield returned to practice yesterday after missing the previous two with an undisclosed issue: “It lingers but you can’t focus on that. You get in a game, kind of block whatever it is.”

Injured Jets

Murat Ates: Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice on forward Brandon Tanev‘s hand injury: “Brandon Tanev broke the top half of his finger right off to the point they couldn’t put it back together until they put a screw in it and he missed a game. It’s these things these guys play with.”

Mike McIntyre: Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers fractured his right leg in Game 5 and he played in Game 6.

Mike McIntyre: Jets forward Patrik Laine said he’d been dealing with a back injury for most of the season and was dealing with a groin issue during the playoffs.

Mike McIntyre: Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey was still recovering from a separated shoulder.
