Svechnikov hopeful for Game 6

Micheal Smith: Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov said that he’s feeling better and that he hopes to play in Game 6.

Svechnikov said that Alex Ovechkin had asked him to fight and he agreed to it, adding “I just want to stand up for myself.”

He later added, “I’m not a superhero asking first to fight.” Svechnikov did say that he and Ovechkin spoke after the game.

Janmark ready

Sean Shapiro: The Dallas Stars said that forward Mattias Janmark could have played yesterday and he wanted to get back into the lineup, but they decide to give him more rest and they were happy with the way the lineup played in Game 4.

Oshie has a broken collarbone

Isabelle Khurshudyan and Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post: Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie will be out indefinitely with a broken collarbone. Two sources are saying that he won’t be back this year no matter how far they go.

An official announcement from the team on the severity could come as early as today.

“I’m not sure there’s another player that wants to play a game any more than T.J. Oshie on our team,” Coach Todd Reirden said Saturday. “The fact that he’s not with us is going to be a tough void to fill, but that just should hopefully push people to get to a different level and have his back, so to speak.”

Ehlers was playing hurt

Mike McIntyre: Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice on forward Nikolaj Ehlers playing through an injury: “I had two guys that I wasn’t sure on tonight. It was a pretty courageous effort. We’ll give you a list when we get back. He sucked it up and proud of him for doing it.”
