Khudobin won’t miss much time

Mark Stepneski: Dallas Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin has a minor issue and didn’t practice yesterday. He’s expected to be able to back up on Sunday.

Kempny not ruled out for their season opener

Tom Gulitti: Washington Capitals coach Todd Reirden said that Travis Boyd has a lower-body and “it looks like he won’t be ready for the start of the season.”

Tom Gulitti: Coach Reirden didn’t rule out defenseman Michal Kempny and his upper-body injury for their season opener: “He’s day to day and we’ll continue to evaluate him and see how he’s doing. I’m still looking to get an update later today.”

Schultz close to being ready

Pens Inside Scoop: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan on defenseman Justin Schultz: “He skated. Full participation. He’s still dealing with a nagging injury but is close.”

Sullivan on Daniel Sprong: “(Sprong) has a lower-body injury.”

Pens Inside Scoop: Schultz practiced yesterday after missing Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury. Sullivan said that it wasn’t serious and is a day-to-day.

Kucherov skips last night’s game

Joe Smith: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper only ruled Nikita Kucherov out for last night’s game.

Hyman practiced for the first time in a week

Mark Masters: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman, who has been out with a hip pointer, practiced yesterday for the first time since last Friday. He had on a no-contact jersey.

Perry has had MCL issues for years

Elliotte Teaford of the OC Register: Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry had surgery to repair his torn meniscus and damaged MCL on Wednesday. Perry has been dealing with an MCL issue for several seasons.

“They saved his right meniscus, which was flopped over, and they also fixed his MCL that has been bad for the last three or four years, so they fixed that,” Murray said. “We talked (Tuesday) night and we, and Corey, decided it was time to get that (the damaged ligament) fixed.”
